Biography

Laura Mariani is a process engineer, with a specialization in steelmaking.

A longtime resident of the West Island, Laura has spearheaded several environmental initiatives in the community, including: a zero-waste challenge, a 10 000 sq.ft. pollinator garden, and a home energy audit kit.

As a lifelong learner, Laura holds engineering degrees (Metallurgical Engineering, Materials) from McGill University as well as professional certificates in Management and Data Analytics for Business.

Our country must pull together to deal with the climate crisis. To that end, Laura favors a science-based strategy focused on innovation in agriculture, steelmaking, cement production, developing a national food waste strategy and passing Right to Repair laws. Other issues that are close to Laura’s heart include improved services for Canadians with disabilities, increased funding for research into women’s health issues, and improving access to education.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading, gardening, and sharing her enthusiasm for native plants.
