Biography

Dr. Ashish Sachan has lived in Guelph for the past eight years. In 2013 after completing his PhD in Toxicology, Ashish and his wife, Dr. Amita Sachan, and their two children, Sara and Aryan, permanently settled in Guelph. Ashish chose Guelph for its vibrant history, great schools, its strong agri-food and biotechnology sectors and community feel.

Ashish is strongly connected with the social, cultural, and political fabric of Guelph. He is the recipient of the “Canada 150 community leader award” for demonstrating exceptional leadership and making outstanding contributions in the City of Guelph. In 2019, Ashish was also recognized by The Guelph & District Multicultural Festival with the Community Champion Award for his efforts to enrich the Guelph community.

Ashish is a veterinarian licensed in Toxicology by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario. He received his PhD in Toxicology in 2012 from Iowa State University. Ashish has several peer-reviewed publications and has edited a book on “Food Toxicology – Current Advances and Future challenges”.

Ashish believes in honest and principled governance and believes in the traditional values, of faith, family and freedom, that have made Canada great and have withstood the test of time. He stands as the first ‘toxicologist’ to ever run for Member of Parliament.
