Biography

Born in Tommy Douglas’s riding of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Jonathan moved to Halifax West in 2008, where he now lives with his wife, Mary Nkrumah and their four children. Dr. Roberts is an associate professor at Mount Saint Vincent University, where he teaches the history of medicine and the history of food. He is also a business owner. He and chef Mary operate Kicks Café at the BMO Soccer Centre (in Clayton Park) and Mary’s African Cuisine (in downtown Halifax).

Jonathan is running to secure a future for Canadians, for seven generations and beyond. He believes in long term thinking and is focused on addressing climate change now, taking on our health care crisis now, funding child care now, and creating a more inclusive immigration policy now.

Jonathan is an active union member of the Mount Saint Vincent Faculty Association, and is involved in community organizations such as the African Diaspora Association of the Maritimes (ADAM). During Jonathan’s term on the board of ADAM, the organization brought in several refugee families to Clayton Park.
