Lisa Marie Barron is a School Board Trustee, community development specialist, and proud mother of two teenage children. As a long-time resident of Nanaimo–Ladysmith, and the traditional territories of the Coast Salish People, Lisa Marie is a champion for social and environmental justice in our communities.
All of Lisa Marie’s work is deeply rooted in the belief that when we take care of one another and the land we live on, we build healthier, happier, and more sustainable communities. She has served her community as a School Board Trustee since 2018 and has made sure students, and families, are always put first. Lisa Marie saw how difficult the pandemic was for students. When they needed help the most, she fought for the safety and wellbeing of students, teachers, school staff, and families. Lisa Marie knows that alongside Jagmeet Singh and the NDP we must keep fighting for young people and make sure they get the support they need to succeed as part of Canada’s COVID recovery.
In her work as a Youth and Family Navigator, Lisa Marie assists those struggling with addictions
– who have been left behind by federal inaction to address the opioid crisis. Through Lisa
Marie’s community development local business, she has worked alongside municipal
governments and non-profits to better deliver resources to individuals experiencing poverty,
homelessness, mental illness, and addiction. She is always trying to find new ways to help people more, which is why she is currently defending her Master’s Degree in Community Development at the University of Victoria.
Lisa Marie understands that social and climate justice must be built into everything we do. She is ready to fight for you in Ottawa and make sure the federal government protects our coasts from pipelines and invests in habitat restoration and protection. Lisa Marie grounds all her work in her connection to the land and an understanding that we need to fight the climate crisis like the emergency it is, invest in a just transition for workers with good, sustainable jobs, and take meaningful steps towards reconciliation alongside Indigenous peoples. Lisa Marie is ready to fight for you as your Member of Parliament and ensure that Nanaimo-Ladysmith has stronger representation.
Lisa Marie has brought dedication and passion to all her work. A former member of CUPE 606, she’s been an advocate for workers’ rights. She has also served as Chair of
the Education Committee and represents Nanaimo–Ladysmith as the Provincial Council
Representative for the British Columbia School Trustee Association (BCSTA).
