Biography

"The son of refugees from the Vietnam War, Kevin Vuong is dedicated to serving the community of Spadina–Fort York in Ottawa. Community comes first for Kevin, and he wears many hats as an entrepreneur, lecturer, and military officer as a means of giving back to his community.

Seeing the challenge of getting masks to everyone in the early days of the pandemic and the economic hardships brought by COVID-19, Kevin co-founded TakeCare Supply, which rapidly developed Canada's first evidence-based reusable mask. Today, his business has manufactured almost a million masks locally, and created nearly 200 jobs, supporting Canada's vital manufacturing sector.

Passionate about reconciliation, Kevin was honoured to serve as the first non-Indigenous President of the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto’s Board of Directors, and later as the Treasurer to strengthen the Centre’s financial sustainability. With the Chinese Canadian National Council of Toronto and the Vietnamese Association of Toronto, Kevin built local bridges between BIPOC communities and allies. Building on his career in the naval reserves, Kevin also sits on the board of the NATO Association of Canada, and Together We Stand Foundation, an organization that honours and supports military families.

These experiences will make Kevin a strong advocate in Ottawa; Kevin will fight, alongside Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team, to help build back our local economy, create good jobs, and combat climate change. As we finish the fight against COVID-19, he will advocate to make housing more affordable, protect the health of those most vulnerable, and defend and celebrate the incredible diversity of the vibrant community of Spadina–Fort York."
