Biography

Rachid Bandou is president of the Amitié Québec-Kabylie association, created in 2009. Militant committed in Algeria for the Kabyle linguistic, identity and cultural causes, first of all, but also Amazigh (Berber). Doubly independentist, he continued his activism in Quebec, his adopted homeland, while remaining engaged in the struggle led by the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia (MAK). He is also one of the recipients of the “Artisan de la Fête nationale 2021” award for his remarkable work within Amitié Québec-Kabylie. Rachid has been a member of the Bloc Québécois Citizenship Commission since 2007. In addition, he has been a member of the General Council of the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal since 2007 and general councilor since 2013.
