Biography

Jonah went to university at the University of Victoria where he received a degree in Geography studying anthropology, forest biology, and resource management.

After school, Jonah went on to work with the Alberta Government conducting wildfire risk studies around rural and remote communities. He also studied the aftermath of the Fort McMurray Wildfire in 2016 and was deeply affected by the destruction caused by that wildfire. Afterwards, Jonah worked for the B.C. SPCA in their cruelty investigations department where he worked to ensure that animals across the province received the care and compassion that they deserve. Jonah and his wife moved to Jasper National Park where they worked for Parks Canada for two summers working to protect wildlife and teach visitors about the Rockies, and the wildlife that call it home. He moved to New Zealand in 2018 where he worked with Maori co-workers on protecting offshore islands from invasive mammals and plants.

In May, 2019 Jonah moved to Lillooet where he accepted a job as a First Nations Relations Advisor for the B.C. Ministry of Forests. He works daily with First Nations communities and industry to ensure that Government consults respectfully and industry has a supply of resources to provide jobs for our rural communities. Jonah worked on the Big Bar Landslide in 2019 and the plight of Fraser River salmon stocks gravely concerns him. He worked tirelessly with Indigenous communities and the federal government to ensure action was swiftly and effectively taken while respecting Aboriginal Rights and Title.
