Biography

Heather is looking out for you in Vancouver-Quilchena. A long-time advocate for workers’ rights, Heather will work hard to make life better for you.

Heather fights for the issues that matter – whether it’s strengthening healthcare, improving the services we rely on, promoting equality in the workplace, or making life more affordable. She is a technician in the film industry and an active member of her union where she is working to protect people’s rights and strengthen opportunities for young workers in her industry.

Heather understands the barriers facing women who work in male-dominated fields, in particular for people who are raising a family. To stand up for working mothers, she is the president of Moms-in-Film Canada, a non-profit that supports women and mothers in her sector. Heather also works with Reel Families for Change, an international non-profit that looks out of the needs of families and caregivers in the film and television industry.

Heather will work hard to make sure we all have access to better healthcare. Her personal experience as a caregiver for her mother, who has Parkinson’s, has shaped her commitment to making sure we have better support for seniors and people living with disabilities.
