Biography

I'm James Marshall, a local resident of Vancouver's beautiful West End, and I'm asking for your vote in the 2020 British Columbia election.

I grew up in Coquitlam (kʷikʷəƛ̓əm lands), raised by an elementary school teacher and a non-profit manager. I moved to the city of Vancouver (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ, Skwxwú7mesh-ulh Temíx̱w, and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm lands) in 2014, and then to the West End a few years later. I now live in a small two-bedroom unit in a lowrise near the old fire hall.

For the past decade, I've worked in Vancouver's video game development sector as an Artist and Developer. I'm also involved in the local music scene, playing drums and singing with several groups. I spent several years playing with the SFU Bagpipe and Drum Band, and won three World Champion titles with the group.

In the 2017 provincial election I ran as the BC Green candidate here in the West End. I spent the next several years researching and writing a book on the history of environmental political movements, which was released just prior to the 2019 Canadian election.
