Born in Sydney Nova Scotia, Mark was raised by two working parents and got to experience Nova Scotia working life at an early age. In 2000, Mark took that work ethic and an interest in science to St. Francis Xavier University, where he graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science. To continue to gather expertise and develop skills, Mark pursed a PhD in Health Policy at McMaster University, where he graduated in 2017. Since, Mark has continued to gather national and international expertise in health services and policy in order to support health system improvement in his home province. Mark returned to NS in 2018 and has been working intently on the ground in the health system to support evidence-based decisions that will help support and improve the health of Nova Scotians, particularly those most vulnerable. He currently works as an embedded researcher at Nova Scotia Health.
