Biography

Joy is a queer, non-binary white settler living in Mi'kma'ki in the community known as Fraser's Mountain. They have a long history of giving back to the community and were the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Award.

They are an active volunteer in many groups, particularly those concerned with public health and human rights and equity including: Heart and Stroke Foundation, MADD Pictou County, People First of Nova Scotia, Mental Health Roundtable, Pivot, Global Pride, and PictouCounty Rainbow Community where they received the Ed Bowden Wellness Award for the parent support group they developed.
